What does it mean to truly be the church?

On the Twelfth Sunday After Pentecost, Rev. Dr. Elizabeth Coppedge-Henley reflects on Hebrews 10:11-17, 23-25 and its call to hold fast to hope, gather together, encourage one another, and provoke each other toward love and good deeds.

The Christian life was never meant to be lived alone. When we grow weary, we need one another. When someone is missing or feeling left behind, we are called to reach out. And when the church faces challenges, there is no secret formula.

We return to the foundations of our faith: worship, Scripture, community, service, love, and the faithfulness of God.

There are no Lone Ranger Christians. Everybody has a purpose.

Everybody has a place.

Everybody all in. Nobody left behind.
