Rev. Dr. Elizabeth Coppedge-Henley began serving as Senior Pastor of Davidson United Methodist Church in July 2026, bringing more than two decades of pastoral leadership, deep connectional experience, and a passion for helping congregations grow in faith and purpose.
Ordained in the Western North Carolina Conference in 1996, Elizabeth has served in a variety of ministry roles throughout her career, including associate pastor, co-pastor, and senior pastor. She served at the United Foundation of Western North Carolina for five years and, most recently, Elizabeth served as President and CEO of the Georgis United Methodist Foundation.
In addition to local church ministry, Elizabeth has provided leadership across the broader United Methodist connection through service as a Southeastern Jurisdiction Delegate, Vice President of the Board of Ordained Ministry, and member of several conference leadership committees.
Elizabeth received undergraduate degrees in English and Spanish from Presbyterian College. She completed her Master of Divinity at Duke Divinity School, where she also served at Duke University Chapel. Elizabeth earned her Doctor of Ministry degree from Columbia Theological Seminary with a focus on leading in a culture of change and she holds a Certificate in Nonprofit Management from Duke University.
Elizabeth and her husband, Jonathan, who is also a United Methodist pastor, have been married for 32 years and have two adult children, Owen and Lora. Together, they share a love for ministry, family, and faithful service, and are excited to begin this new chapter with the Davidson UMC community.
