The Fifth Sunday of Lent 2023

In the animated and wonderful 2017 Disney film Coco, many of the main characters are skeletons who have come to life during Mexico's "Day of the Dead" holiday. When we read this Sunday's scripture from the prophet Ezekiel, it almost feels like we are encountering another screenplay for an upcoming movie; this one about a valley of dry bones being joined together -- bones to sinews to flesh to breath. Ezekiel's vision has inspired artists and musicians for centuries, and teaches us still today about the power of God to bring resurrection to what was once lifeless. Read Ezekiel 37: 1-14 to prepare for this Sunday.
