Rev. Alexis Coleman has served as the Pastor of Missions at Davidson UMC since 2015. She began serving in western NC in 2008 after graduating from Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC. Rev. Coleman was ordained an elder in full connection in 2012.
Alexis is a certified trainer in Bridges Out of Poverty, amodel which helps communities build long-term sustainability for people in all economic classes. She teaches Bridges in the congregation and community several times a year. She also works with families from our community who are currently living in instability or poverty as they transition to stability.
Rev. Coleman's passion is helping families break the cycle of poverty through empowerment and positive mentoring relationships. Her vision is for DUMC to become a leader in our Conference in missions which are sustainable and transformational so that all God's children can live life to the fullest (based on John 10:10).
Alexis is also a certified coach through Passion in Partnership, an organization dedicated to the development of lifelong fruitful ministries for both clergy and laity. She works primarily with clergy in the ordination process.
Alexis holds a BS in Computer Science from Tennessee Technological University (1985) and an MA in Christian Education from Pfeiffer University (2002). Alexis worked in the IT field for 20 years before answering the call to ministry. Rev. Coleman has been married to her husband Jon since 1987. They have two daughters, Ashley and Cassie.
