Mission:
To share the love of Jesus Christ by partnering with Nicaragua’s poorest people in healthcare, education, housing and economic development. Their healthcare clinics provide primary care, medication, dental, optical services and public-health campaigns to the residents of rural Nicaragua. Their Feeding Program provides meals for children, at-risk elderly, pregnant and nursing mothers five to six days a week by offering nutritionally balanced meals. By the end of the Economic Development Program, participants will be educated in commercial enterprises and receive a loan for their own entrepreneurial business. The Educational Program is an ongoing initiative to educate the youth and illiterate adults so that they will be able to provide financially for themselves and their families.
Service:
With 95% of the houses being smoked-filled shacks with dirt floors and open cooking fires, the Rainbow Network constructs simple cement block houses with floors, doors and a fuel efficient stove.
Financial Donation:
For the 2009 calendar year, DUMC has pledged $5,000.
