Mission:
To respond to the devastating effects of the AIDS epidemic in the African country of Malawi.
Service:
Their services include nursing scholarships that grow the country’s capacity to care for its own people; orphan care to children who have lost parents and guardians to the AIDS pandemic, and HIV prevention programs for youth.
Other Information:
The $3,600 will support three young women for on full academic year of nursing school supplying them with tuition, books, supplies, a nurse’s watch, stethoscope, uniform, shoes, and a modest living stipend.
Financial Donation:
For the 2009 calendar year, DUMC has pledged $3,600.
