SUNDAYDivorce Care for Kids (DC4K)
A 13-week session begins Thursday, February 16 • 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.
DC4K is a Christian-based program designed to help children between the ages of five and 12 whose parents have gone through or are currently going through a separation or divorce. A combination of games, crafts, activities, music, and DVD dramas are used to create a fun, healing atmosphere. This program is open to both church and community members. Coming to God Through Stories: Dwelling in Stories That Change Our Lives
Saturday, February 11 • 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. • Chapel
Led by John G. Sullivan, Ph.D., this workshop introduces short teaching stories from a variety of faith traditions - Zen Buddhist stories, Jewish Hasidic tales, Christian parables, and stories from the Sufi mystics of Islam. The stories call us to transformation - to come to life more fully so as to serve life with more love and compassion, joy, and peace. Dr. Sullivan, a former Roman Catholic priest, taught undergraduate philosophy at Elon University for 36 years. He is the author of three books and continues to teach adult learners in programs at Tai Sophia Institute in Laurel, Md. 2012-13 Weekday Preschool Registration
Registration for DUMC’s Weekday Preschool will be held January 30 - February 10. Our program offers classes for children ages two (by 8/31/12) through Transitional Kindergarten (five by 8/31/12). Applications will be available in the Preschool Office (Room 119) beginning January 30. Detailed information regarding our philosophy, class options, tuition rates, tours of the school, and the lottery process are available at www.davidsonumc.org/WeekdayPreschool. Applications for the lottery must be received by 12:30 p.m. Friday, February 10. The lottery will be held February 24.
